Faculty of Agro-Industry Strengthens Thailand–China Research Collaboration at Yunnan International Joint Laboratory Inauguration
On 27 September 2025, Associate Professor Dr. Yuthana Phimolsiripol, Dean of the Faculty of Agro-Industry, Chiang Mai University, together with Associate Professor Dr. Sujinda Sriwattana and Assistant Professor Dr. Thanyaporn Siriwoharn, participated in the inauguration of the “Yunnan International Joint Laboratory of Big-Health Plant Resources” at the Kunming Institute of Botany, Yunnan Province, China.
The laboratory was established under the support of the Yunnan Provincial Major Research and Development Program, with the Kunming Institute of Botany serving as the lead institution, and Chiang Mai University, Thailand, as a co-founding partner. Its objectives are to establish a collaborative research network and comprehensive database on health-related plant resources, develop quality standards, generate knowledge for value-added food and health product innovation, and foster international research personnel exchange.
The establishment of this joint laboratory marks a significant milestone in academic collaboration between Thailand and China. It also strengthens Chiang Mai University’s role as a leading institution in tropical plant research and health innovation in the ASEAN region.
