On September 12, 2024, the Faculty of Agro-Industry (Samut Sakhon), representing Chiang Mai University and led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Wirachchaya Chanpuypetch and her team, participated in a workshop aimed at capacity building and developing a highly skilled workforce linked to lifelong learning for sustainable livelihoods. This event was part of the "New Growth Engine Project", the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation. Additionally, the faculty showcased the non-degree programs for the fiscal year 2024 and set up an exhibition booth, organized by the Faculty of Agro-Industry (Samut Sakhon), at the Best Western Plus Wanda Grand Hotel in Nonthaburi Province.

 

The Office of the Permanent Secretary has been advancing the "New Growth Engine" initiative to enhance educational quality and position Thailand for economic growth. This initiative encourages higher education institutions to revise their curriculum content and teaching methodologies to cultivate a skilled workforce aligned with the needs of the industrial sector. This effort supports Thai educational reforms and contributes to the development goals of Thailand 4.0. The initiative focuses on reforming educational curricula in Thai higher education by transitioning from traditional practices to a Skill-First framework and promoting lifelong learning opportunities.
